It’s great to see your article here, Sylvie! The framing of opportunities from the patients lens resonates well! I worry as patients what we experience is a symptom. Perhaps among many root causes, the existing structures for providers and clinicians are not aligned with the incentives for healing humanity as you well articulated. I wonder how quality measures/incentives can drive change to help build this bridge!

Thank you for your comment! I agree that patient experiences often reflect larger issues within the system. I believe the real challenge isn’t about incentives but about changing the mindset in healthcare. By focusing on healing people with dignity and empathy, rather than just treating illness, we can create better outcomes for both patients and providers. Quality measures are important, but the true incentive is achieving better outcomes.

Thank you!

Thank you Sylvie Such a powerful

article. And like Dr. King, you have given voice to those who are disenfranchised from the system and whose voices are not heard. May you have great success with your new platform.

I applaud your aspiration. The receiving or paying side in many types of business transaction is often disadvantaged, like customers paying money to receive goods from merchants/manufacturers, because profit is what the latter cares about. Healthcare providers and medical insurers are no difference. We have processed foods high in fat, sugar and salt that make them tasty but hurt public health; we have employers constantly looking for ways to raise work efficiency at the expense of employee wellness; and we have doctors seeing patients every 15 minutes where patient care is reduced to clinical transactions to maintain profitability. There are still many caring medical staff out there but they may become less and less when the focus shifts from compassion to profit. We need to see others as ourselves so we can work together as ONE, so benefiting you is benefiting me, instead of competing with each other to gain ahead. (Google for “One Consciousness”)

Thank you for your kind words about my post. My goal is to bridge the gap between clinical excellence and the patient experience. I aim to foster constructive dialogue about improving healthcare together rather than assigning blame. I appreciate your engagement and look forward to continuing the conversation. I think you will appreciate my future posts.
